Finding the right hat can feel daunting, especially with the potential for discomfort or disappointment in fit. A hat that's too loose can fly off in the wind, while a hat that's too tight can lead to headaches and irritation. The secret to a perfect fit lies in precisely measuring your head. This guide details how to measure your head properly, ensuring that your next hat is both comfortable and stylish.
Understanding Head Measurement
To achieve the ideal fit, knowing how head sizes are measured is crucial. Head circumference is generally measured in inches or centimeters.
Our ready to wear hats are sized in the following range: 56cm-7, 57cm-7⅛, 58cm-7¼, 59cm-7⅜, 60cm-7½ and 61cm-7⅝.
For sizes outside of these you'll need one of our bespoke hats.
Gathering the Right Tools
Before you begin measuring, gather these essential tools:
A flexible measuring tape, preferably tailor's tape
A piece of paper and pencil for noting your measurements
A mirror to help ensure accuracy
These items will facilitate an accurate measurement of your head's circumference, guiding you toward a perfect fit for your new hat.
Steps to Measure Your Head
Position the Measuring Tape: Start by placing the measuring tape around your head, just above your ears and eyebrows, ensuring it's level all around. This is where most hats rest comfortably.
Take the Measurement: Adjust the tape so it fits snugly but isn't constricting. Record the measurement where the tape overlaps, making sure to keep your head straight during the measurement.
Double-Check Your Measurement: For greater accuracy, measure your head again. This confirms that the number you have recorded is correct and reduces the likelihood of errors. Should your measurement fall between sizes, we recommend opting for the larger size.

Interpreting the Measurements
After measuring your head circumference, you'll be able to see which size you need to order.
